International Science and Innovation Festival 2017

 Dates:

International Science and Innovation Festival 2017 will be held on 23rd September – 7th October.

Significance of the festival:

From 2016 important tradition will be introduced: our city will host international science festival and join the other world’s leading cities where such festival were held.

Aims of the festival:

  • Supporting scientific research and innovations;
  • Showcasing Georgian science potential;
  • Sharing international experience;
  • Popularizing achievements of Georgian and foreign scientists among general public;
  • Raising motivation of young researchers;
  • Getting students and schoolchildren interested in science research and innovations;
  • Integrating education, science and culture.

Participants of the festival:

Festival is open for participation to the Georgian and foreign public and private universities, scientific-research centers, Georgian National Academy of Science and Agriculture Academy of Georgia, Georgian and world’s leading museums, libraries, Georgian and foreign representatives of science and arts circles, etc. Participants and activities of the festival will be selected on the contest basis by the international board composed of Georgian and international experts.

Festival activities:

Science picnics, conferences, public lectures, seminars, trainings, workshops, presentations, popular science experiments, expos, perfomances, poplar science lectures/seminars, open days, science cafes, science shows, contests, quizzies, special events for schoolchildren and etc.

Venue:

Premises of the public and private universities, scientific-research centers, Georgian National Museum, libraries, hotels, art, expo and sports complexes and etc.

Funding:

Activities with the direct involvement of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia or other public entities will be funded from the state budget. Other activities will be funded by the host organization.

Science Festival Logo

Logo features urbanistic work of art by Georgian artist, Bacha Khopheria (Dr. Love): “Zezva and Mzia are taking Selfie”, inspired by the reconstruction of hominin discovered in Dmanisi. Logo symbolically displays the development of science and innovation from the ancient times till the modern day. “Zezva and Mzia are taking Selfie” reminds us that science is an essential part of our daily life.
